Post- Surgical Treatment Diet Instructions

A) Diet suggested For the First 2 days following dental surgery such as implant placement or tooth extraction:

Your food should be soft and cold

Liquid diet examples:

Puréed vegetable soup

Apple juice 

Campbell’s V8 100% Vegetable Juice

Chicken broth

Beef broth

Slimfast shakes and smoothie mixes

Cream of wheat

Fruit juices 

Tomato soup

Milk shakes 

Plain yogurt

Ice cream

B) Diet suggested After the 2 days following your surgery:

After the first 2 days you can eat any of the above mentioned diet in addition to any other soft

nutritious food that are high in vitamins and minerals to help with your healing. Such foods are:

Apple sauce 

Bananas 

Scrambled eggs

Cheese 

Jello

Custard 

Yogurt

Fish

Well Cooked Oatmeal

Mashed potato

Soups

Foods that should be Avoided:

Please avoid drinking through a strew and all crunchy, hard, sticky, spicy food for two weeks following the surgery.

Popcorn 

Chips

Dried fruits

Nuts 

Peanut butter

Sesame seeds 

Crackers

Apples

Carrots

Bread

Rice

Lentils

Pizza 

Pastries

Gum 

Candy

Seeded jams or jellies

Carbonated drinks

Spicy or irritating foods such as hot peppers or tabasco sauce

Alcoholic beverages: since they interfere with the healing process of your wounds.

Although a soft food diet can be difficult to adhere , it’s used to promote your wound recovery, and to minimize your discomfort hence it’s important to follow until you’re ready to transition back to a regular diet.
